So, my older brother called me the other night. And what a surprise that was. Especially since it was Junior's phone he called, not mine.

We were sitting around watching Passion of the Christ, Sonya had come over to watch with us. And it wasn't great. Matter of fact it was kind of putting me to sleep. Then Junior's phone rang and after a minute or so he hands me the phone.

It was so great to hear his voice. I haven't talked to him much the last few weeks, email or otherwise. So this was a special treat. And the reason he called was because he was worried about me. And that makes it the best part. Usually it's me that worries. The fact that he was worried enough to call, that means a lot to me.

Damn I miss him. After all, he's the only real big brother I have. Oh sure I have step-brothers who are older, but it's not the same. I've never been close to any of them. Brian was too much older than me, being only a few years younger than my mum. Brian was always more like a favorite uncle than a big brother. And Danny and Dana were never really allowed to spend much time with me, their mum wouldn't allow it. Besides, Danny was an ass and Dana was too much of a momma's boy.

Gordy though, even if we did spend so much of our lives apart, he's always been there. Even when we didn't talk much. I've said all this before, I know. But I really miss him. Especially now with the baby so close. I want this baby to know it's uncle. Sure it's got my two little brothers up here, but they're not as excited as Gordy is. Conrad Jr has been through it all before with his brother [they have the same mom]. And Sebastian is too young to really care much, especially since he barely knows me.

Gordy is different. This is his first niece/nephew. And probably his only one from me. He was so excited when I told him. I thought he was going to jump right through the phone. I can't wait for them to meet eachother.

And it looks like that will be sooner rather than later. Gordy is going to try and come up after the first of the year. He's been working a lot of hours of late and is up for a promotion soon on top of that. So with luck, he'll be able to get his license in January and come visit soon after.

16 more days to go. I'm having a hard time believing the baby is going to be here so soon. Just over two weeks. I really hope I can be ready in time. Speaking of, I have to go start packing my hospital bag.
